US to face England in Under-17 World Cup quarterfinals

The United States will play England on Saturday at Goa, India, in the quarterfinals of the Under-17 World Cup.

England advanced Tuesday by defeating Japan 5-3 on penalty kicks after a 0-0 tie.

Nya Kirby, who left Tottenham’s youth system this year for Crystal Palace, scored the decisive spot kick.

The U.S. routed Paraguay 5-0 in its second-round match Monday to reach the quarterfinals for the first time since 2005.
