Disaster preparedness training set

KAPAA — Community Emergency Response Team organizers announced training courses coming to Kapaa.

Classes will be held from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. every Wednesday beginning Oct. 4 through Nov. 8 at the St. Catherine School cafeteria, 5021 Kawaihau Road.

CERT is a six-week disaster- and emergency-preparedness course tailored to citizens and taught by firefighters. It is free to residents.

Participants will learn about different types of disasters and how to prepare and respond. Topics will include fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization and first aid.
