KOLOA — A roadwork project is underway while another is scheduled to start soon.
Maui Kupono Builders will be repairing Koloa Road from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, from Sept. 15 through Oct. 29.
During this period, one lane of alternating traffic will be open on Koloa Road, from Kaumualii Highway to Ala Kalanikaumaka Road.
Maui Kupono Builders is also doing road resurfacing in Lawai Hillside subdivision from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, through Oct. 17.
In another project, the Department of Water announced an eight-hour water shutdown scheduled for Kilauea customers on Kauapea Road, Mihi Road, Makana Ano Place, Pali Momi Place, Iwalani Lane, Kahili Quarry Road, Titcomb Street, Kanikele Street, including customers located on private connecting roads and on a portion of Kilauea Road, from Keneke Street to the Kilauea Lighthouse.
Water will be turned off on Wednesday, Sept. 13 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sept. 14, weather permitting.
The overnight water shutdown will allow private contractor, Kaiwa Construction, Inc. to tie-in water lines to the existing system.
The DOW will provide two trailer-mounted water tanks with potable water for essential water needs during the scheduled shutdown. The tanks will be on Kilauea Road; one near Kilauea Park and the other will be near Iwalani Lane.
An electronic message board will be posted in the affected area to notify and remind customers of the shutdown.
