POIPU — Coryssa Silva broke the 18-second mark aboard Diesel to finish tops in the Barrel Racing event at the Kauai All Girls Rodeo Association event at the CJM Country Stables last week.
She was challenged by Casera Silva aboard Taz who tripped the photo eye on an 18.343 go, falling short of Coryssa’s run of 17.919.
The order flip-flopped in the pole bending event where Casera finished second by a scant .177 second after Coryssa took Twister out for a run.
The tight competition continued through the goat tying event where Casera pulled in a No. 3 finish, countered by Coryssa getting third in the steer undecorating.
Casera took the upper hand with a fourth finish over Coryssa’s fifth place in the breakaway roping.
Coryssa Silva pulled ahead in the dally team roping where she was the heeler for three teams who finished in the top six spots of the leaderboard. Her performance led to her garnering All Around Cowgirl honors with Casera Silva getting Reserve All Around Cowgirl honors.
