A Kauai team won a division title in Upper division play during the 42nd annual Hawaii State Senior Softball Tournament on Oahu this past weekend.
The Lihue A’s of the Kauai Senior Citizens Softball Association defeated Hui Ohana in tournament’s C division championship game, 14-11, on Saturday at the Patsy T. Mink Central Oahu Regional Park in Waipio.
Kauai’s other C division squad, the Barteks, were eliminated in the second round following a 17-16 loss to Hui Ohana.
Kauai’s A division team, the East Kauai Gents, reached the division final but lost to Aikane, 13-12.
The Ohana Motors Rebels, representing Kauai in the B division, were eliminated in the second round after a 22-9 loss to the Honomu Rockets.
In the D division, West Kauai reached also reached the championship game but lost to Fat Katz, 23-13. Ohana, also representing the Garden Isle in the D division, played through to the second round but lost to X-Press, 22-16.
The tournament’s lower divisions played earlier in the week. In an all-Kauai championship game, the Rookies beat the Islanders in the E division final, 20-11.
The East Kauai Legends lost to the Waipio Makules, 16-14, in the F division final.
Kawaihau was victorious over the Golden Eagles, 27-7, in the G division championship. Hanamaulu lost to Na Kahuna, 17-10, in the H division final.
