Happy Camper for Friday, July 21, 2017

Ferdinand Dosono of Kauai Kim Chee is going to have sliders (with kim chee, no less) for Koloa Plantation Days. Ferdinand was doing the Chef’s Demo (er, Tasting) at the weekly Kauai Culinary Market at The Shops at Kukuiula where he was being crowded out by the Tesla vehicle on display.

Bruna Stude of galerie 103 (be sure to greet Brolie – he even has his own social media site with more than 700 friends) is having an “In Between” exhibit, and guess what? Roberta Griffith (she has her Honolulu Museum of Art opening next Friday) has her “Pre-Columbian Odyssey: Virgins of Xochitecatl” on exhibit featuring ceramic figures (she doesn’t just do plates and cups) of a people who evolved in Mesoamerica, including Hawaii, and elsewhere in the world.

Aletha Thomas of Monkeypod Jam (we missed the monkeypod blooms, again) said it’s summer, and Elvrine Chow of Heavenly Haku said Jennifer Ortal got her head lei because she’s going traveling. Helen Lacono (she got to taste some of the kalbi, and even get some for granddaughter Ku‘u Breen) had guests from California, and Ada Koene didn’t stop by after work.

OK, don’t forget – Saturday is the Third Annual Back to School Bash (Brenda Biehler and Showtime Characters are supposed to have Moana, there) at the Kukui Grove Center for those free school supplies bags. Stacie Chiba Miguel said last year, the lines started from 6:30 a.m. – oh-oh, time to get up early!
