Mokihana Aquatics parents and swimmers were treated to a guest coaching session from Coach Don SanAugestin (Coach Orlando Anaya said he is KQNG Radio’s Mark Valentin’s father) who was a coach for the Guam Olympic swim team. This was a real treat (Coach O even let Coach Don be a Moki Coach for a Day) because after just a short talk-story on deck, every single swimmer, including Kauai Interscholastic Federation swimmers Maddie Hoesel and Sara Funtanilla, showed marked improvement after applying the discussion technique. Wow!
Kawao Jansons-Beukoski was another swimmer catching a glimpse of the Olympic swim coach. He was out Friday to help his mother at the Kauai Government Employees Federal Credit Union’s food drive benefiting the Kauai Independent Food Bank through the Fifteen in Fifteen (goal: $15,000 in 15 weekdays ending July 14) campaign.
Kudos to the Kauai credit unions on doing such a great job — Stephanie Shinno was off Friday on the final day of the Garden Island Federal Credit Union’s bake and rummage sale? Janice Russell of the Kauai Teachers Federal Credit Union said their members were so generous in providing Kalaheo pineapple, avocado and papaya (big papaya) so they could do their first country fair.
