What’s new at the market?

PUHI — “Today is Canada Day,” said Samira Siale of Enterprise Holdings, Kauai. “We, my mother Heidi Nikk and grandmother Mohti Iranpour of Vancouver Canada, chose to spend it here at the farmers market. That is three generations being here at the same time.”

The Kauai Community Market is a partnership between the Kauai County Farm Bureau and the Kauai Community College and operates on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. with farm fresh produce, Value Added agricultural products, local treats and plate lunches, cooking and growing tips, and an opportunity to meet local farmers.

“I just dropped in to check on Jannik Evanoff’s fish,” said Liz Hahn of Kauai Bettas who recently finished the International Betta Congress by being named No. 3 betta breeder in the United States. “He was so excited, he offered to play the violin for several of us, Saturday here at the market.”
