Xaerys Dela Cruz scored a dozen points, and Jim Ehia and Marique Manera each added 11 points to lead the Team Lihue Warriors eighth grade boys to a 49-26 win over Tamba who got nine marks from Zylah Pa-Conant Thursday night during the youth summer basketball league games played at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
This was the TL 8B Warriors’ second win of the week after Ehia led the Lihue team to a 35-31 edge over the 8B Na Koa Tuesday evening in Kapaa. Poki Tafea led Na Koa’s effort with nine points in that matchup.
The second match of the night featured Lindcey Constantino lighting the twine for nine points to lead the Supersonic sixth-grade boys to a 33-27 edge over the Lihue Lakers Purple team who got 11 marks from Ian Rapozo.
Mayson Broyles closed the action at Kalaheo by scoring 15 points to lead the Supersonics eighth-grade boys to a 45-28 win over the Kauai Thunder whose efforts were led by Tyrus Duran netting eight points.
Kapaa High School action saw the fifth-grade Dream Team take a 16-7 win over the Kauai Lynx behind eight points apiece from Lele Gonsalves and Olivia Malafu. Leeann Vegas led the Kauai Lynx effort on four points.
Kauai Lynx kept its win streak alive in the eighth-grade girls division by taking a 31-20 win over the Dream Team 8G behind 16 points from Amalya Sales to set up the showdown against the undefeated 8G Kaulupono Saturday.
Lexie Ann Yam and Bryshell Kala‘i each finished with eight points for the 8G Dream Team.
The final matchup in Kapaa saw Olivia Malafu bucket nine points to lead the sixth-grade Dream Team to an 18-14 edge over the Kauai Lynx who got six points from Kaylee Parubrub.
