Anahola fire contained

ANAHOLA — A brush fire near KIUC’s solar farm took about two hours to contain Friday.

The fire broke out at around 12:30 p.m. and scorched 20 acres.

No injuries were reported and no structures were threatened

Air 1 and a private helicopter assisted firefighters from the Kapaa and Kaiakea fire stations in controlling the blaze.

Kuhio Highway was closed in both directions for roughly 15 minutes, to allow crews to battle the fire as it approached the highway.

It was contained at 2:30 p.m.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
