Congratulations to our state judges Randal Valenciano (he presided over the 29th Drug Court graduation) and Edmund Acoba on being retained for new terms in the Hawaii State Judicial System! Judge Randal will be on the bench for the next 10 years while Judge Edmund will sit for the next six years.
Congratulations to all the Drug Court (Judge Randal said we’re trying to get a Veterans Court going, too) graduates! Kudos to Coach Martin Steinhaus and his crew on another great class!
Ron Wiley got to sit in for Scott Giarman as the Kauai United Way representative along with Lynette Medrano-Stine (Travis got to come home for sister’s graduation) and Lori Almarza (she was dying to get out of the office).
Mel Rapozo got two lei — one for being the Kauai County Council chair and the other for being part of the Friends of Drug Court — and Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. got to do a selfie with The Salvation Army’s Lt. Shawn Keoho, who was totally thrilled with being able to come to Kauai for a visit. Lt. Elizabeth Gross said Friday is National Donut Day celebrating 100 years since The Salvation Army lassies distributed donuts to solders … get your free donut at Daylight Donuts and Aloha Sweet Delights.
Happy Memorial Day, Kauai!
