Kauai native Taylor Viquelia is among the field of 22 women golfers vying for one qualifying spot for the 2017 U.S. Women’s Open Sectional Qualifier which will tee off Sunday morning at the Poipu Bay Golf Course.
Viquelia will be competing in a 36-hole qualifier where the winner will advance to the U.S. Women’s Open which will be contested at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey on July 13 through 16.
Also included in the qualifier are So Whi Kang of Korea, Danielle Price of New Zealand and Maddy Rayner of Southlake, Texas.
Honolulu golfers include Karissa Kilby, playing in Viquelia’s twosome, Allisen Corpuz, Naomi Wong, Claire Choi, Miki Manta, Annika Espino, Danielle Ujimori and Aiko Leong.
Zoey Akagi-Bustin of Wahiawa, Reese Guzman of Kahului, Maui, Kristin Le of Aiea, Allysha Mae Mateo of Mililani, Malia Nam of Kailua, Alexa Bailey of Ewa Beach, Lana Calibusto-Kwee of Wailuku, Maui, Kamie Hamada of Aiea, Patricia Schremmer of Ewa Beach and Alanis Sakuma of Kapolei round out the field.
