HANALEI — Through its Fit Fund Grant, the Kauai North Shore Community Foundation presented a $2,000 donation to the Hanalei Hawaiian Civic Club. The Foundation’s Fit Fund is giving a total of $10,000 in grants this year, to five North Shore nonprofits.
The grant to the Hanalei Hawaiian Civic Club will support the Hanalei Canoe Club’s Haena to Hanalei Run/Walk scheduled for this Saturday, June 3.
“This event is a perfect fit for the Foundation’s Fit Fund grant. It’s about fitness and health, and at the same time, having fun and enjoying the scenery,” said Ken Rosenthal, a board member for the Kauai North Shore Community Foundation and its Health & Wellness Committee chair.
The 8-mile course begins at the end of the road at Ke‘e Beach and runs along the beautiful stretch of road and one-lane bridges, ending at the historic Hanalei Pier.
The Fit Fund is funded by proceeds of the Ohana Fit Fest presented by Wilcox Health, a fun, free family event that features an obstacle course competition. Last year, hundreds of participants and spectators attended.
The 2017 Ohana Fit Fest is scheduled on Saturday, July 22, at the Waioli Beach Park, also known as Pinetrees on Hanalei Bay.
