KIPU — The Kauai Humane Society recently honored its volunteers with ice cream and praise.
“I started volunteering when the humane society was in Salt Pond,” said Robert Stuart, acknowledged for having put in 2,871 volunteer hours. “I come in and do all sorts of things like folding the towels, bagging the dog and cat food, and helping the mechanic.”
Valerie Jo Allred started volunteering in June 2010 and has logged 3,541 hours. Sheila Drews was thanked for her 1,093 hours, as were Margaret McGinty (2,828 hours), Robert McGinty (2,198 hours), and Celia Rahe-Allee (2,660 hours).
Cindy Cabrera started volunteering in February, 2015 and has logged 501 service hours. Other volunteers with more than 500 service hours include Ann Bjork (912 hours), Tracy Capman (740 hours), Carol Everett (685 hours), John Pringle (503 hours), Ikumi Sakamoto (655 hours), Sharell Sakamoto (660 hours), Julie Werner (590 hours) and Mary Zakula (606 hours).
