Happy birthday to Donovan Kale (pronounced “Kah Le”) Kaui who was celebrating his special day Saturday (don’t forget to do your taxes — Tuesday is the deadline because it’s Emancipation Day!) at the Kukui Grove Center Spring Celebration where Moana surprised people waiting on balloon art. Toni Fujimoto of the Kauai Community College early education program had two of her students, Chanella Asuncion and Kaleo Stevens, on track for graduation, helping.
The Kukui Grove celebration was only part of the day’s excitement as Beth Tokioka and Marty Amaro were reporting to help with the Hawaii Foodbank Kauai Branch food collection at the Safeway Store in Hokulei Village (store manager Lesah Merritt had the afternoon shift). Kudos to Wes Perreira who got Patrick Ono out early along with the Girl Scouts from Troop 823 and Dr. Addison Bulosan setting the stage for Anson Lardizabal’s “more exciting music.”
Kudos to Ron Horoshko who was doing Ukrainian eggs to help one of the Safeway Pharmacy’s people with her fight against cancer after being encouraged by Lei Cadiz.
