KILAUEA — Titus Kaioli Brun of Kauai Weightlifting edged Mackenzie O’Neill in the men’s division of the Kilauea Crossfit Weightlifting competition Saturday at the Kilauea Crossfit facility on the North Shore.
Brun finished with a total of 259 kilograms (296.67 Sinclair) to take first place in the men’s division over O’Neill who finished with a total of 260 kg (296.01 Sinclair). Third place honors went to Micah Young of Kauai Weightlifting who finished with a total of 210 kg (249.96 Sinclair) in the field which included lifters Leslee Aki, Christopher Jacobsen, Josh Golden and Dusty Psaila.
“This was a great meet today,” said JP Bolwahnn, the Kauai Weightlifting coach. “The next one should be even bigger and better.”
Casey Hutnik topped the women’s division with a total of 157 kg (218.88 Sinclair) followed by Brandie Lopez who finished with a total of 118 kg (163.17 Sinclair), and Leah Johnson who ended with a total of 120 kg (158.35 Sinclair). Other participants in the women’s division included Haunani Dato, Katryna Weir, Erin Gregerson, Makena Huddy-Pila and Allison Jacobsen.
Kauai Weightlifting’s Kena Yamamoto finished second in the youth division with a total of 84 kg (157.59 Sinclair), being bested by Logan Noble who finished tops in the division with a total of 115 kg (171.52 Sinclair).
