LIHUE — The Island School Alaka‘i Chorus is on Oahu for the 2017 Na Leo Hou Hawai‘i All-State Choral Festival.
The three-day festival wraps up with a final concert today. Over 350 high school singers from across the state, including those from Kauai, joined together to rehearse under the baton of Dr. Karen Kennedy before presenting a concert at the Central Union Church in Honolulu.
“I’ve taken our students to choral festivals since I came to Island School in 2006,” said Philip Steinbacher, choral director at Island School. “They gain so much in a few short days. I can’t think of a better way for students to experience the value of joining with others to make music and lifelong memories.”
