Roy Nishida said he came straight off the plane from Maui so he could watch the Kapaa Warriors play against Damien at the Waimea Baseball Invitational tournament.
Kudos to Waimea Coach Larry Ephan (mahalo to Sherri for the offer of water, too), Coach Jon Kobayashi, and the Menehune supporters on hosting a great tournament (the Kapolei crew was spending all kinds of money, visiting Walmart on Wednesday and Times Supermarket on Thursday).
Kapu and Pete Alquiza were on hand to watch Kai Alquiza (dad said he’s looking at going to Hawaii Pacific University after graduation) do his magic with the St. Louis Crusaders, and Andrew Renaud’s mom said he still wears the No. 12 jersey.
Kudos to coaches Hank Ibia and Bryan Aiwohi on doing a great job with their teams despite going up against tough Division I teams from the ILH (weren’t the Owls trying to make a pet out of the feral chickens?).
Kudos to JR Guerrero, Tina Albao and the Boys & Girls Club on the opening of their new facility in the West Kauai Tech Center (someone forgot to take out the “Closed Wednesday” sign at the West Kauai Visitor Center). Codi Burton was carrying in a load of Mobile Munchies for the other B&G members.
Mobile Munchies is the benefactor of the Souper Bowl Sunday that takes place today from 11 a.m. at the Clayworks at Kilohana — there’s still time to enjoy the Gaylord’s soup and hand-crafted bowl before kickoff. Happy Super Bowl Sunday!
