Lourdes Torres of the superfood table at the Kealia Farms market (Gabe Keener’s mom is coming back Friday) said she wished she had a camera to capture the expressions of customers when they discover the crickets.
But Lourdes and Emilio Ruiz have been doing well, selling out their offerings on each of the three times they’ve been to the market. She’s getting excited about being at the Kauai Community Market on Saturday where Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. is scheduled to cut the ribbon.
Chloe Karoub of Chloe’s Rawsome Nice Cream was doing her first appearance at the market, and Alan and Shelley Kunski (Alan said Russians use “y,” and Polish people use “i”) of Laguna Niguel, Calif., were enjoying a Papaya Boat banana frosty (Alan said it’s not “plastic food because it’s fresh and as close to the farm as you’re going to get”).
Sean Osuna (remember his black bamboo kadomatsu) discovered Kauai bentonite clay which is full of minerals and trace elements. He has it available for skin-care uses and demonstrated the mask for Thad and Misha Miller. He even has a Kealia Poi Bowl to enjoy those bags of fresh poi.
