David Mineo Yamase
David Mineo Yamase of Lihue passed away on Jan. 7 at the age of 81. He was born in Waimea on June 4, 1935, and retired from the state of Hawaii Department of Education as a teacher and athletic director at Kauai High School.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Yamase.
He is survived by his daughter Kathy (Scott) Shibuya of Lihue; grandsons Destrey and Shayne Shibuya of Lihue; sisters Sue (Royden) Okunami of the Big Island, Ellen Yamane of California and Louise (Richard) Nagata of Oahu; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private services were held.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Yamase family with arrangements.
Marilyn Cuaresma Labrador
Marilyn Cuaresma Labrador of Kapaa passed away on Dec. 28 at Wilcox Medical Center at the age of 59.
Born on July 11, 1957 in Lihue she was a secretary for state of Hawaii Intake Services in Lihue.
She was preceded in death by her parents Antonio and Margarita Cuaresma.
She is survived by husband Adrian Labrador of Kapaa, sons Tarey (Ashley) Labrador of Kailua, Oahu, Tyler Labrador of Kapaa, brothers James (Leonida) Cuaresma of Wailua Houselots, Robert (Evangeline) Cuaresma of Keapana and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life is Saturday, Jan. 28 at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Koloa, with visitation at 8 a.m. and Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m.
Borthwick Kauai Mortuary Koloa is assisting the family with arrangements.
