Surfrider pays to have abandoned cars removed

Anahola — Members of the Kauai Surfrider Chapter spent much of the day on Friday helping a private towing company remove some of the estimated 25 cars that have been abandoned in the Anahola area since last year’s cleanup in the area.

“There were cars back there Sunday, the day after we cleaned them up last year,” said Surfrider’s Dr. Robert Zelkovsky. “And they’re back again. An awful sight.”

The removal was paid for by Surfrider to the tune of about $1,500 to remove 15 cars.
