Vernon C. Asuncion
Vernon Cris Asuncion, 88, of Kilauea, passed away on Nov. 25 at Wilcox Medical Center.
Born on Nov. 24, 1928 in Puunene, Maui, he was a retired groundskeeper at Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital.
He is preceded in death by his parents Crisogono and Romana Asuncion, brothers Norman, Sid, Francisco, Frank, Filimino and Florando Asuncion and sister Loretta Abalos.
He is survived by his wife Josephine Yadao Asuncion, and children Cristine Asuncion, Leonard (Theresa) Asuncion, Joanne Asuncion and Timothy “Timmy” (Patrice) Asuncion, Faith Sugahara, Nadine (Robin) Robinson, Cisco Peru, Magdalena “Cookie” Peru, Leslie (Evajoy) Peru, Marian “Hue” Regidor, Tom Krysiak, daughter-in-law Jade (Larry) Rosa, sisters-in-law Blossom Asuncion and Lola Asuncion, brother Alfred (Rose) Asuncion, sister, Delores Stollar, 22 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016 at St Sylvester Catholic Church from 8 to 9:45 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kilauea Japanese Cemetery.
Borthwick/Kauai Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Consorcia ‘Consing’ Bacalso Labez Estenzo
Consorcia “Consing” Bacalso Labez Estenzo of Kapaa passed away at Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital on Dec. 11, at the age of 93. She was born in Hanamaulu on June 22, 1923, and retired as a nurse aide at Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sotero Estenzo; siblings, Ricardo Labez, Salome Sarita and Rosario Patten; and stepchildren Holita “Kathy” Howell and Marco Estenzo.
She is survived by eight children: Rosa Dejos of Hanamaulu, Eleanor Estenzo of Kapaa, Nelson (Gloria) Estenzo of Kapaa, Walter (Virgie) Estenzo of Hanamaulu, Gerarldo “Larry” Estenzo of Kapaa, Feleilani (Boyd) Phillips of Lihue, Wilfredo (Tessie) Estenzo of Kapaa, Maria Cecilia “Bebe” Burns of Kapaa; stepchildren, 30 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, Dec. 22, at St. Catherine Church, with viewing from 8 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.
