Ed Bales, a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather (and my English teacher at Kauai High School) is celebrating Christmas Dec. 3 at Lihue Lutheran Church (that’s the one on German Hill) from 6 p.m., said Cynthia Young. This is a “come when you can, leave when you must” event with heavy pupu, salads, dessert, coffee cake and juice. If you want a visit from Santa Claus, there is a $5 limit on a grab bag.
Kudos to Devin Parado and his Kauai MotoCross Association ohana on a nice transition ride before the season opener, Dec. 4 at the Wailua MotoCross track. Daniel Hurtado and David Amorin were wondering where all the riders were after a day of rain made for a challenging course (the kids got to ride the big track).
Lori Almarza of the Kauai United Way was doing double-duty Saturday — helping at the Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School craft fair (they’ll be back with the Garden Island Junior Dragsters Dec. 10 and, hopefully, won’t run out of flying saucers), and at the Kipu Ranch Adventures’ VIP launch party (she told Chef Rafael Camarillo you gotta have the triangle to use that ATV to haul a trailer).
‘Nuff said, it’s time to check out Lt. Elizabeth Gross and Lt. James Combs for The Salvation Army Thanksgiving luncheon.
