Happy Camper for Nov. 2, 2016

“It was the apology letter that did it,” said Mokihana Aquatics coach, Orlando “O” Anaya, Monday.

Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte, also known as Mokihana Aquatics swimmer Alfred Auger, had his apology letter sealed in a zip lock bag so he could do the 50-yard swim in costume.

Alfred took runner-up honors to the Old Man from Up, Up, and Away, also known as Tyler Tanaka, who captured everyone’s attention with his cluster of balloons that floated over the pool while the swimmer kicked his entire 50 yards for top honors.

The Angel, also known as Kamaira Silva, got ousted by Lochte’s apology letter and settled for third-place honors, and, in a conference among parents, Dr. Collins, also known as Mokihana swimmer Madhab Collins-Doijode, was announced the parent’s choice selection during Halloween festivities.

Today is the launch of the inaugural Poipu Food and Wine Festival at The Shops at Kukuiula (congratulations to Helaine Perel and her ‘ohana on getting the Shopping Center of the Year award from the Retail Merchants of Hawaii!) when the Kauai Community College culinary-arts students take the kitchen setting for the chefs’ demo at the Kauai Culinary Market. What is going to be on tap?
