KIF Air Riflery All-Stars named

LIHUE — Waimea High School girls air riflery team, winning the Kauai Interscholastic Federation title earlier, placed three members — all seniors — on the KIF Air Riflery All-Stars.

The Kauai High School boys air riflery team, winning the KIF title for its division, placed two members. Waimea High School and Kapaa High School boys’ teams, strong contenders throughout the season, also placed two members each on the All-Star team.

Khryshia Pascual, a consistent top-pointer through the season for Waimea, topped the girls’ All-Stars, being joined by Robyn Acob who marked the top spot during the season opener, and Janice Prado, a consistent team-scoring shooter throughout the season.

The Menehune girls are joined by Janice Manique, the consistent high-pointer for Kapaa High School. Haley Gokan took the Kapaa high-point honors on the final match of the season and joins Manique as an All-Star. Both girls were key in providing the Warrior wahine with firepower that kept them in serious contention for matches throughout the season.

Kaori Kaya was the sole Kauai High School representative, the Red Raider always placing in the top of the scoring-shooters during the season.

Brandon Marcos, a Kauai High School sophomore, has been at the top of the boys’ air riflery scoring consistently throughout the KIF season. He is joined by Kaimi Texeira, a senior, on the boys’ All-Star squad.

Waimea’s Braden Kobayashi, a junior, has been the top Menehune pointer for most of the season and earns an All-Star spot along with Dennison Mopas, a junior, Mopas being a consistent team scoring contributor.

Kapaa boys, like their wahine counterpart, have been a serious contender throughout the season. The Warrior team places Maverick Yadao, a consistent Kapaa boys high-pointer, and Michael Anderson, another Warrior who took the school’s high-point honor, on the boys’ All-Star team.

The KIF will be allowed five boys and five girls at the 2016 Civilian Marksmanship Program Hawaii High School Athletic Association Air Riflery Championships when the matches get under way on Tuesday at the Blaisdell Center Exhibition Hall on Oahu.
