KAPAA — Librarian Lani Kawahara said there will be some Hawaiiana books available when the Friends of the Kapaa Public Library hosts its annual Book and Bake Sale Friday and Saturday.
“We always have some Hawaiiana books,” Kawahara said. “We’ll have children’s books for 10 cents, too. And we have lots of DVDs and CDs — a lot of audio-visual material.”
Isobel Storch, president of the Friends of the Kapaa Public Library, said Friday’s event is a pre-sale for Friends of the Kapaa Public Library members, with doors opening from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the library.
“People can join the Friends at the door,” Storch said. “That way, they are able to enjoy the pre-sale. Saturday morning at 10 a.m., the doors open to the public until 3 p.m. We’ll have our bake sale along with our regular large selection of adult books, CDs, DVDs, Hawaiiana and children’s books.”
Proceeds from the annual sale go directly back to the library for programs and new material, Kawahara said.
“This is our big fundraiser for the year,” Storch said. “The funds we raise help keep our library offering its services to the community.”
Books offered for sale are community donations and material withdrawn from the library shelves, Kawahara said.
