“Both girls had lots of playing time in the games,” said Aulia Ventura, Kehela’s mother. “Kehela said by the last few games, she had adjusted to the altitude of playing in Colorado.”
Kehela said soccer practices and time spent in the gym using her training mask for months leading up to the tournament helped her during tournament play. She also said she appreciated the help of her Kauai soccer coach Kevin Devitt for all of his help, including the training help leading to the tournament over the years.
“Colorado was also going through a heat wave with temperatures reaching more than 90 degrees, daily,” Aulia said. “Kehela really enjoyed playing in Colorado with the team and grew as a player. The girls also toured the University of Denver and loved the campus as well as all of the facilities offered to its student athletes.”
