Disaster readiness addressed

The rains that drenched the islands Tuesday were a result of the former Hurricane Celia.

Tropical storm Darby, a former hurricane, is being monitored for effects on Hawaii by the National Weather Service.

But what if the effects of a hurricane were greater than just rains? Would you be ready?

The Hanapepe-Eleele community association is hosting a “Be Hurricane Safe and Tsunami Ready” event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Hanapepe Armory, 1-3460 Kaumuali‘i Highway.
