20 people have filed for office

Tuesday is the last day for anyone wanting to file to run for public office in Hawaii.

As of Friday, 20 Kauai residents filed papers, announcing their candidacy for different posts.

They are:

State Senate, District 8: Ron Kouchi, Democrat, incumbent

State Representative, District 14: Sandra Combs, Republican; Nadine Nakamura, Democrat; Fern Rosentiel, Democrat

State Representative, District 15: James “Jimmy” Tokioka, Democrat, incumbent

Office of Hawaiian Affairs: Daniel Ahuna

Prosecuting Attorney: Lisa Arin

Kauai County Council: Juno-Ann Apalla; Matthew Bernabe; Arthur Brun; Mason Chock; Norma Doctor Sparks; Richard Fukushima; Gary Hooser; Ross Kagawa; Arryl Kaneshiro; Derek Kawakami; KipuKai Kuali’i; Mel Rapozo; JoAnn Yukimura.

All county contests are determined via non-partisan elections.

Nomination papers must be filed with the Office of the County Clerk, Elections Division.
