Kudos to Sarah Tochiki and Kevin Toma of the Kauai All-Island Band who will be leaving for the National Memorial Day Parade in a few days!
The concert they hosted Sunday on the lawn of the historic County Building was spot-on — especially the chicken-skin rendering of “Aloha Oe.”
Something said a stop to the Housemart Ace Hardware store in Lihue was on the agenda Monday following the Fallen Heroes ceremony (Ret. Gen. Mary Kay Herto,g who had a busy weekend at the Ed Kawamura Power Equipment Expo, made it to the ceremony, too).
Alton Miyamoto was there and said they’ve got bon dance practices for the West Kauai Hongwanji Mission (Sarah Date said WKHM, Waimea temple has bon dance on June 24 and 25, Gutsy Oyama!) on Thursday nights starting at 6.
Kuana Torres Kahele (how many remember his performances at the Kauai Museum?) was on hand to teach people more new lei-making styles just in time for graduation.
