Kauai Interscholastic Federation softball champion Kauai High School is unseeded at the Data House Softball State Championships – Division II tournament, which opens Wednesday at the Patsy Mink Softball Stadium on Maui.
According to an Hawaii High School Athletic Association announcement Thursday, Kauai will begin its bid for the state title in the opening round against Saint Francis School of the Interscholastic League of Honolulu at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Winning that game will pit the Red Raiders against No. 4 seed Lanai of the Maui Interscholastic League in a 6:45 p.m. match Thursday.
Top seed for Division II softball goes to Nanakuli of the Oahu Interscholastic Association. ILH’s Pac-Five gets the No. 2 seed and Kamehameha Schools – Hawaii of the Big Island Interscholastic Federation gets the No. 3 seed.
Teams participating in the Division II field also include: Kauai High, Saint Francis, OIA’s Farrington, Kalani and Aiea, MIL’s Molokai, and BIIF’s Konawaena and Kohala.
Division I teams have No. 1 seed going to OIA’s Kapolei. ILH’s Kamehameha Schools – Kapalama got the No. 2 seed. MIL’s Maui is seeded No. 3. BIIF’s Wakakea is seeded No. 4.
Division I games will be contested at McKinley High School and the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium on Oahu.
