LIHUE — Sleeping Giant Sotheby’s Realty and the Hawaii affiliates of Sotheby’s Realty recently presented a $10,000 check to Kupu Hawaii.
Debra Blachowiak, principal broker and co-owner of Sleeping Giant Sotheby’s Realty, said Kupu Hawaii is a wonderful organization that was developed in response to the growing needs of Hawaii’s communities to train the next generation in natural resource management, renewable energy and energy conservation.
Sleeping Giant Sotheby’s Realty and its Hawaii affiliates make a large donation each year to an organization on Kauai. The contribution is earmarked for education, environment, cultural preservation and Hawaii studies.
She said much of the donation was generated over the past year by agents and office staff who rallied behind the effort to raise money for the nonprofit.
“There was lot of enthusiasm in the office,” she said. “Very inspirational.”
The gift was done through the Hawaii Community Foundation, which Blachowiak also praised for the way it works with smaller accounts.
“The work of the Hawaii Community Foundation is really fantastic in the state,” she said.
