LIHUE — Mokihana Aquatics’ swimmers Ian Raquel, 10, Kamaira Silva, 11, and Tyler Tanaka, 11, will be in action this week at the Kauai High School pool.
“Ian, Kamaira, and Tyler are eligible to participate in the Charles ‘Sparky’ Kawamoto ABC (time standards) meet which will be held March 5 and 6 on the Big Island,” said Mokihana Aquatics coach Orlando “O” Anaya. “But we don’t leave until March, so these swimmers will be participating in the distance trials which will take place Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at the Kauai High School pool.”
Silva qualified for eight events, including the 50 breaststroke, 100 freestyle, 50 backstroke, 100 individual medley, 100 breaststroke, 50 butterfly, 100 backstroke and the 50 freestyle.
Raquel qualified for eight events including the 100 butterfly, 50 breaststroke, 50 backstroke, 100 IM, 100 breaststroke, 50 butterfly, 100 backstroke, and the 50 freestyle.
Tanaka qualified for eight events including the 100 butterfly, 50 breaststroke, 100 IM, 100 breaststroke, 50 butterfly, 100 backstroke, and 50 freestyle.
The three Sparky-bound swimmers will be hitting the water this weekend in the Mokihana distance trials.
