What a treat to see Ilima Lopez and her ohana with all that ono Hawaiian food Saturday night when the Kapaa Middle School Choir Boosters hosted a tribute to Mary Lardizabal and Renee Thronas (she had four generations of Thronas present) and the “Kapaa music” at the Kapaa Middle School covered courtyard.
Bobby Thompson (anyone see that guy with the yellow shirt on the posters?) had his family present, and kudos to George Thronas Jr. on a great job emceeing the luau.
Chante Mancia was glad to see Jeff Sacchini of Living Foods working on Sunday since the Garden Cafe (it’s a new feature unveiled at the blessing) at the National Tropical Botanical Garden Visitor Center was running low on chips and some of the (non-alcoholic) beverages. Living Foods is one of the purveyors for the cafe and makes daily deliveries.
Jeff, who started the Kauai Marathon, said 2016 is going to be a good year because online registration for the run is nearly double the amount they had in 2015 for the period ending Dec. 31.
