Chaminade University guard and Kauai High School alumnus Kristle Henry was named the Pacific West Conference Women’s Basketball Defender of the Week.
The junior from Lihue tied the single-game program record with six steals in Thursday’s win over Concordia. Henry, who also had six-steal game last season, had three more Saturday against Holy Names as the 2-3 Silverswords are 2-0 in the conference for the first time ever.
The 2013 graduate of Kauai High averaged 11.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game last week. Henry, who was the PacWest steals leader last season, ranks second in the conference at 3.0. She leads the team in assists at 4.0 per game and is the Silverswords’ second-leading scorer and rebounder at 12.6 points and 5.2 rebounds per game, respectively.
It’s the second time in her career that Henry has been named Defender of the Week and the first time this season.
