Victim’s name released; Suspect arrested

Kauai police have identified the man whose body was found early Saturday morning in a parking lot near the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall as Gary Allianic, Jr., 38, of Lihue.

Allianic died of injuries sustained in an assault.

Following a thorough investigation by the Kauai Police Department’s (KPD) Investigative Services Bureau, detectives were quickly able to develop leads that resulted in the arrest of Francisco Keola Manuel, 37, of Lihue, the suspect involved in the incident.

Manuel is being held in the KPD’s cellblock on $1,005,000 bail.

“Our team of top notch investigators with assistance from the Patrol Services Bureau and the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney was able to swiftly apprehend the suspect”, said Acting Assistant Chief Richard Rosa with the Investigative Services Bureau. “Our community is safer as a result of their actions.”
