HONOLULU — Kaiser Permanente Hawaii has received top ratings for its Medicaid, Medicare and commercial health plans by The National Committee for Quality Assurance, a leading independent health care quality assurance organization.
The NCQA Commercial, Medicare and Medicaid Insurance Plan Ratings, a five-point rating system debuting in this year’s 2015–2016 report, is based on patience experience, treatment outcomes and prevention efforts.
Kaiser Permanente Hawaii had the top rated Medicaid plan in the country out of 149 Medicaid plans surveyed. It is the only plan in the U.S. to receive a 5, the highest overall rating. Kaiser Permanente’s Medicare score of 4.5 is the highest rated plan of its kind in Hawaii, and among the top 13 percent out of 376 plans nationwide. Its commercial plan was one of two plans in Hawaii to receive the highest rating of 4.5, placing it in the top 12 percent of 491 plans in the nation.
