Thank you, Waimea High School Friends and Alumni, for having the luau tents in place Saturday morning when thunder was replaced by rain at the KIF cross country meet. The tent provided shelter for all the waiting runners, coaches, and supporters. Macy Tamura didn’t need the tent because the Kauai team was celebrating her birthday at the Richard Doi building, and coach Kara Kitamura had her runners next door.
Chuck Brady and Kevin Matsunaga were in the tent with Jonathan Chun (they had the best spot in the center of the set up), and Marcus Pereira’s parents were content using the umbrellas. Mahalo to John Altomare for the identifier key.
Meanwhile, over at the Kauai Humane Society, Mele Brewer (she went from KHS education to CFS backpacks) had her crew of students safe from the rain, making snacks and treats for the KHS animals. Mele said the kids come out every Saturday to work on this project which the animals totally love.
