A Honolulu attorney who changed his career in 2012 into an industry that is already highly competitive is planning to give back to the community instead of taking a long overdue vacation.
EcoCab founder David Jung and his younger brother, Scott Jung, are planning a 130-plus-mile perimeter walk of Oahu to benefit Shriners Hospital for Children in Hawaii.
The campaign, “Saving the Planet One Mile at a Time for Our Keiki,” will start 6 a.m. Saturday at EcoCab’s headquarters, 3060 Ualena St. The walk is estimated to take five to six days, ending back at EcoCab offices. There is a www.indiegogo.com account that has just under $600 for this campaign as of last Monday. EcoCab has a fleet of 44 cabs and 120 employees using Hyundai Sonata hybrid cars helping to lower the consumption of fuel and gas emissions, becoming the first cab company in Hawaii to go green.
