USA Football to host local coaches clinic

USA Football will conduct a Heads Up Football Player Safety Coach clinic Saturday at Isenberg Park.

USA Football will instruct player safety coaches representing high school programs and youth leagues throughout the state. This group will then teach Heads Up Football to their organizations’ coaches, players and parents.

Heads Up Football is a comprehensive approach to a better and safer game, encompassing USA Football’s accredited Level 1 Coach Certification Course, Heads Up Tackling and Heads Up Blocking techniques and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention concussion recognition. Reponse protocols, sudden cardiac arrest protocols, heat and hydration and instruction on proper helmet and shoulder pad fitting will also be a part of the course.

After completing the workshop, coaches will oversee their organizations’ implementation of the USA Football program. Player safety coaches also will monitor practices and games throughout the season.
