Kathleen Haruko Kure

Kathleen Haruko Kure of Brier, WA, passed away on July 11, 2015, at the age of 71. She was born in Waimea, Hawaii, on Feb. 3, 1944. Kathleen was a retired Kmart Associate.

She is preceded in death by her father, Robert G. Fujimoto; daughter, Michele S. Kure and husband, Gary I. Kure.

Kathleen is survived by her sons, Nelson Kure of Lawai and Matthew (Alexa) Kure of Washington; granddaughters, Randi Kure, Tauren Kure of Washington; mother, Hatsumi Fujimoto of Lihue, Kauai; brothers, David Fujimoto of Kapaa, Kauai, Bobby (Toni) Fujimoto of Hanapepe, Kauai; sisters, Eileen (Charles) Powell of California, Cora Fujimoto of California, Coleen Pantohan of Kapaa, Kauai, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

You may join the family for a celebration of Kathleen’s life on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015, at Kapaa Assembly of God at 4581 Koa Street, Kapaa. Viewing is scheduled at 10 a.m. with service to follow at 11 a.m. The family has chosen to hold a private burial.

The family suggests casual attire. Flowers graciously accepted.

The family was assisted by Elemental Cremation and Burial in Washington.

Esther ‘Jade’ Allen

Esther “Jade” Hew Allen of Lihue passed away in Garden Isle Health Care on June 30, 2015, at the age of 88. She was born in Wailuku, Maui, Hawaii, on March 15, 1927, and retired from the Federal Government.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Foon and Sui Yin Hew and eleven siblings.

Esther is survived by her husband, William Phillip Allen; two sons, Ross (Brenda Vidinha) Ikeda and Bill (Rebecca) Allen; two daughters, Kathy Allen-Hays and Laura Valhuerdi; 14 grandchildren, Lynn “Binky” (Jesse) Goo, Britney Ikeda, Daniel Ikeda, Sean Allen, Grant (Jackie) Sagum, Michael “Chad” (Angela) Hays, Monica Allen-Hays, Cory Allen-Hays, Cassandra Hays, Danielle Valhuerdi, Caitlin Valhuerdi, Colin Valhuerdi, Nicole Valhuerdi and Ryan Valhuerdi; five great-grandchildren, Jessie Goo, Jia Marie Goo, Aubrey Ikeda, Kaikea Saiki, Hudson Hays, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to a gathering in her remembrance on Sunday, July 26, 2015, at 4339 Puaole Street, Lihue from noon until 4 p.m.

Kauai Memorial Gardens is assisting the family.
