Jarquio gets FMPR Scholar honor
Hazel-Lyn Jarquio, who graduated from Kapaa High School in May, received a $1,000 scholarship from the Fujita & Miura Public Relations firm.
She is enrolled at the University of Hawaii at Manoa for the fall semester where she plans to pursue a degree in nursing, specializing in pediatrics.
“With the help of the Fujita & Miura Public Relations scholarship, I can take another step towards my dream of helping children in Hawaii live a healthier life,” Jarquio said.
In high school, Jarquio achieved a 4.0 GPA. She also participated in four sports while performing more than 200 hours of community service through the Kapaa High School Key Club and St. Catherine’s Parish.
“The involvement and dedication Hazel has toward academics, community service and leadership are what stood out to us,” said Joy Miura Koerte, a partner with FMPR. “She also has a very clear vision of how she wanted to use her higher education to better the community in Hawaii and we felt very strongly in supporting her dream.”
