First Friday Paina provides food and laughter

LIHUE — Strangers leave as newfound friends at the Kauai Museum on the first Friday of each month.

“This is one of the hidden treasures of Hawaiian culture and aloha,” said Marilyn Mohler.

Reservations are requested due to limited seating, and dress is casual for the event which features local cuisine and entertainment coming at the end of a tour of the Historic County Building.

“They each paid,” said Jane Gray, director of the Kauai Museum. “And now, the Kauai Foster Grandparents program are entertaining. This is so Kauai.”

The Kauai Museum hosts a Portuguese Festival from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday celebrating the history and culture of Portugal with a day of food like the malasada, sweet bread, arts and crafts.
