Bonjour lecteurs heureux! Whether you are a gun enthusiast, a collector, a hunter, or a student of history, “The Illustrated World Encyclopedia of Guns” covers everything. Competently assembled by longtime historian and museum curator Chuck Willis, the book spans the entire breadth of firearm weaponry from its inception to modern day tools.
Chock full of high-quality pictures and expertly detailed descriptions, the book is great for the avid collector, or for the person just getting interested. Muskets, rifles, shotguns, automatic weapons, Glocks, revolvers, you name it, it’s in there.
The author treats the subject with the utmost respect to their usage, specifications, craftsmanship, design, inventors, and historical significance. Guns have been an intricate part of world history, all the way from the farmers and hunters to the militias and the military.
One of the great things about how this book is organized is that it introduces readers to key designers and manufacturers and the technology involved in their production, including directories that are both a comprehensive reference and an easy to use index for the everyday person.
Another interesting and useful thing that this book does is organizes each weapon according to country of origin, and features each gun’s technical information along with its military, political and technological uses when each gun was originally developed. For those interested in history, this is a wonderful bonus!
One fellow, while going through the book with his wife, kept pointing at the various guns in its pages, saying, “Got that one, that one, that one, have it, have it, got it, this is going to be my next one, would love to have that one …” Of course he bought the book! Education is the key to understanding and a wonderful way to travel the world!
