Brush fire burns 300 acres in Kaumakani

KAUMAKANI — A brush fire burned 600 acres in Kaumakani Wednesday.

No injuries or damage to structures were reported.

The fire broke out about 1 p.m. Rescue 3, Air 1 and fire crews from the Waimea, Hanapepe, Kalaheo and Kapaa stations had the fire contained by 4 p.m. Gay & Robinson, the landowner, had personnel remain on scene overnight with multiple water tankers to monitor the area for any hotspots or flare-ups.

The exact cause of the fire is not yet known, but officials do not suspect foul play.
