Firefighters have extinguished a fire that scorched 600 acres of brush in Kaumakani Wednesday. The fire was contained by 4 p.m.
No injuries or damage to structures were reported.
Rescue 3, Air 1 and fire crews from the Waimea, Hanapepe, Kalaheo and Kapaa stations have been released from the scene.
Gay & Robinson, the land owner, will have personnel remain on scene overnight with multiple water tankers to monitor the area for any hotspots or flare-ups.
The fire first broke out shortly before 1 p.m.
The exact cause of the fire is not yet known, but officials do not suspect foul play.
A preliminary investigation reveals that foul play is not suspected in the cause of the fire.
There are no road closures reported at this time but motorists are urged to drive with extreme caution through the area.
