Happy Camper for June 7, 2015

Kudos to Elton Ushio, Kauai Civil Defense director, and his tree of command on a great emergency preparedness series of exercises.

Maj. Mario Reyes and The Salvation Army crew got to bring out its mobile canteen after Sara Miura (she also got a couple of boxes of donuts on National Donut Day) asked if it could be injected into the exercises, and Fred Styer said he wanted to be out in the field, but was glued to Incident Commander Shawn Hosaka to answer any questions which might come up during the hazardous material exercise (gotta get used to seeing Jordan Kahawai as a firefighter).

Congratulations to new Assistant Chief of Police Robert Gausepohl (who are we going to see about the Lights on Rice parade now?) and all the newly promoted people. Lt. Rod Green (he was working with the preparedness exercises) said the new positions take effect today. Congrats to Captains Bryson Ponce and Paul Applegate, Lts. Green, Kenneth Cummings, Kennison Nagahisa and Mark Ozaki, and Sgts. Michael Buratti, Damien McCallum and Michael Nii Jr. (even got to see Kailee Nii at the promotions)!
