If the wind is not up to standards (Nawiliwili Yacht Club Rear Commodore Fred Styer described it as “crisp and gentle”), then a ride around with the puppies suited Walter Toerge who normally pilots Trinity, a trimaran, during the NYC Junior Invitational Series which opened at the Nawiliwili Yacht Club.
Mahalo to Lois Andersson (anyone looking for a good accountant?) for the help with identifying the different juniors (8 to 18 years old) aboard the different boats. Risa Whetsel is only 13, but wasn’t the junior aboard Weatherly since she was behind the stick and someone else was wearing the Coast Guard approved life jacket.
Paula Saylor (Rotary Club of Kapaa’s Taste of Hawaii is next Sunday!) was cruising the wall with granddaughter, and Lois said she’s still waiting on her phone call to help.
Congratulations to John (Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. said he’s going to be called “Keoni”) McComas on the opening of the Kauai AlohaCare “walk-in customer center!” And kudos to Kahu Jade Battad on the great dissertation of “Aloha!”
