Police closed Kapule Highway, from the Lihue airport to the Hanamaulu Junction as a safety precaution, while firefighters continue to battle a brush fire that broke out on the makai-side of Kuhio Highway in Hanamaulu around 5 p.m.
Motorists heading north, toward Kapaa, can use Kuhio Highway Hanamaulu Town as an alternate route. Expect traffic delays and avoid the area if at all possible. Updates will be given as information becomes available. Mahalo!
