Firefighters help three swimmers

Kapaa firefighters helped three struggling swimmers on Sunday.

According to a press release, firefighters responded to a report of three swimmers in distress fronting Pono Kai Resort in Kapaa about 1 p.m. Firefighters located the three swimmers roughly 50 yards off shore and entered the water with a tube and rescue board.

All three individuals (a visiting California family) were brought safely back to shore, along with a bystander who was with the family when rescuers arrived. No medical treatment was required.
